Breeze Airways Expands Route Network with New Destinations and Increased Capacity

Published Oct 13, 2026 Reads 766 Desk Zach Vasile

Breeze Airways is expanding its route network, introducing four new destinations and a total of 22 new routes, enhancing travel options for customers.

Breeze Airways has unveiled an ambitious expansion of its flight offerings, set to begin next spring and summer. The new additions include flights to Boston, Buffalo, New York, Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.

Expanding the Footprint

This expansion reflects Breeze Airways' desire to carve out a larger niche in the competitive low-cost airline market. The airline, founded by David Neeleman, is positioning itself against not only established carriers but also against other low-cost alternatives like Spirit and Frontier. By ramping up direct services to key cities, Breeze is addressing a portion of the market that often feels underserved, particularly in the summertime when family travel peaks. This strategic decision will likely resonate with travelers seeking non-stop options that save time and reduce the hassle commonly associated with connecting flights.

Among the highlights is a significant boost in services to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which will see 11 new routes added and a 70% increase in capacity by 2026. This move signals the airline's commitment to making travel more convenient for its customers. The strategic focus on Myrtle Beach is particularly telling, as it is a prime destination for both leisure travelers and families during peak seasons. More options could shift the dynamics in the regional market, drawing more tourists and potentially influencing ticket prices.

David Neeleman, the airline’s founder and CEO, mentioned, “Every route we add to our network starts with the same question: where can Breeze’s direct service bring travelers a convenience they don’t already enjoy today?” This philosophy underpins their expansion to a total of 95 cities, enhancing affordable travel opportunities. By concentrating on customer convenience, Breeze aims to differentiate itself from competitors that have not prioritized direct service as keenly.

New Nonstop Routes

The airline's new nonstop routes represent an aggressive push into several previously untapped markets. Among the new nonstop routes being introduced are:

  • Albany, New York, to Myrtle Beach; Mondays and Fridays, starting May 28, 2027.
  • Boston to Myrtle Beach; daily, starting May 4.
  • Buffalo to Charleston, South Carolina; Mondays and Fridays, starting July 2.
  • Buffalo to Myrtle Beach; Thursdays and Sundays, starting July 1.
  • Buffalo to Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, starting June 29.
  • Burlington, Vermont, to Myrtle Beach; Thursdays and Sundays, starting May 27.
  • Columbus, Ohio, to Myrtle Beach; Mondays and Fridays, starting May 28.
  • Latrobe to Myrtle Beach; Mondays and Fridays, starting February 9.
  • Latrobe to Orlando, Florida; Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting May 26.
  • Myrtle Beach to New Haven, Connecticut; Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting May 26.
  • Myrtle Beach to Portland, Maine; Thursdays and Sundays, starting May 27.
  • Myrtle Beach to Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting May 26.
  • Myrtle Beach to Stewart-Newburgh, New York; Mondays and Fridays, starting May 28.
  • Myrtle Beach to Syracuse, New York; Thursdays and Sundays, starting May 27.
  • Raleigh-Durham to Nassau, Bahamas; Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting June 30.
  • Tampa, Florida, to Santo Domingo; Mondays and Fridays, starting June 18.

This array of routes is a clear effort to capitalize on popular destinations, especially for tourists and beachgoers. With strategic flight scheduling on Mondays and Fridays, Breeze appears to be targeting weekend travelers, a demographic that is often constrained by workweek schedules. It's a smart approach, given that these days typically see the highest travel demand.

New BreezeThru Routes

In addition to its nonstop offerings, the airline also announced new one-stop “BreezeThru” routes, designed to bridge regions that may not support direct flights due to demand. This category of offering often serves as a lifeline for smaller markets, keeping them connected to larger hubs. The new BreezeThru routes include:

  • Akron-Canton, Ohio, to Boston; daily, starting May 4, 2027.
  • Albany to Orlando; Mondays and Fridays, starting May 28.
  • Burlington to Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Thursdays and Sundays, starting May 27.
  • Charleston, West Virginia, to Fort Lauderdale; Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting May 26.
  • Fort Lauderdale to Stewart-Newburgh; Mondays and Fridays, starting May 28.
  • Portsmouth to Tampa; Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting May 26.

All the new routes are now available for booking, marking a significant step in Breeze's strategy to enhance travel options across its growing network. The addition of BreezeThru is particularly notable, as it suggests that Breeze is taking a page from the traditional carriers’ playbook by creating paths that facilitate connections between underserved markets.

Implications and Future Outlook

What this means for you, the traveler, is more choices. If you're working in this space, you should take note. With an increase in route options, dynamics in pricing may shift, benefiting consumers who are often faced with higher costs for last-minute tickets. But there's a flip side. Increased competition could lead to a price war, which may not always promote long-term sustainability for the airline. Airlines often start with aggressive fares but face challenges in maintaining profitability if ticket prices fall too low.

These developments could also influence regional economies. By connecting cities like Latrobe and Albany to leisure destinations, Breeze is not only making travel easier but also encouraging tourism. Airports and local businesses might experience increased foot traffic, fostering an economic ripple effect. And yet, the long-term viability of these routes will depend on consistent demand and effective operational strategies.

As Breeze Airways continues down this path, only time will reveal how well they can manage growth and respond to changing market conditions. The airline's success hinges not just on the number of routes they add but on the strategic execution behind them. Can they maintain affordability while ensuring quality service? This remains to be seen.
